Everything you need to install, configure, and get the most out of WPX Video Post — a dedicated, SEO-optimized video content type for WordPress.
What the plugin is and how it's organized.
WPX Video Post gives WordPress a purpose-built "Video Post" content type — separate from regular posts and pages — with its own admin screens, video categories, VideoObject schema, and a YouTube-style front-end layout. It's built for anyone publishing video regularly: course creators, media publishers, agencies, and SaaS teams with tutorial libraries.
All plugin screens live under a single Video Post menu in the WordPress admin sidebar: Overview (dashboard), All Video Posts, Add New, Categories, Settings, Ads PRO, and License.
wpx-video-post.zip file, or unzip it into wp-content/plugins/ via FTP/SFTP.💡
If you ever change the Permalinks settings under Video Post → Settings, repeat step 3 (re-save Settings → Permalinks) so the new URLs take effect.
The Add New screen, field by field.
Three ways to source a video, mixed and matched per post.
SourceDescriptionSelf-hostedUpload a video file directly to your WordPress Media Library.YouTubePaste a YouTube URL; the video embeds via YouTube's player.Cloud PROOffload to Bunny Stream or an S3-compatible bucket, and serve the video from there instead of your server. See Cloud Storage.
Autoplay, mute-on-autoplay, loop, and lazy-loading are configured site-wide under Settings → Player Defaults, and can be reviewed per video in the Player Settings sidebar box on the Add/Edit screen.
Every video ships with the on-page fields search engines look for.
💡
The Transcript field on the Add/Edit screen feeds directly into VideoObject schema and helps both search indexing and accessibility — add one whenever you have it.
Manage video categories under Video Post → Categories — a standard WordPress taxonomy, usable for filtering and for the category chips shown on archive pages.
Under Settings → Permalinks you can customize:
SettingDefaultControlsSingle video slugvideoThe base of a single video's URLArchive slugvideosThe base of the video archive URL, e.g. /videos/
Re-save Settings → Permalinks (the native WordPress screen) after changing either value.
A YouTube-style watch page, out of the box.
Each video's page uses a two-column layout on wider screens: the player, title, meta row, like/share actions, and description/transcript tabs on the left, with an "Up Next" sidebar of related videos (same category) on the right. It collapses to a single column on tablets and phones.
Controlled under Settings → Content Optimization: toggle related videos on/off, and set how many show initially (a "Load More" button appears if more exist in the same category).
Each video has a Like button and a Share menu (X/Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp) built in — no extra plugin needed.
Under Settings → Homepage, enabling "Show the Video Archive as this site's Homepage" replaces whatever your site's root URL currently shows (the default blog index or a static front page) with a YouTube-style video grid: category filter chips, a responsive card grid, and pagination.
⚠️
This overrides Settings → Reading while enabled. If your homepage currently uses a custom static page (page builder content, etc.), that content will be replaced while this setting is on. Uncheck it any time to revert.
Under Settings → Page Theme, choose the color palette used across the video page and archive/homepage grid:
ThemeAccessDark Cinematic (default)FreeMidnight BluePROSunset BlazePRONeon PurplePRO
Video Post → Overview shows published/draft counts, total views and likes, average SEO score, cloud-offload rate, self-hosted vs. YouTube split, top-performing videos, and recent activity.
A compact version of the same summary can also appear on the main WordPress Dashboard (wp-admin/index.php) — on by default, toggleable under Settings → Player Defaults → "Show a WPX Video Post summary widget on the WordPress Dashboard."
Embed a single video anywhere shortcodes are supported (a regular post, a page, a widget):

Move video files off your own server.
Configure under Settings → Cloud Storage. Choose a provider:
Per video, use the Cloud Storage box on the Add/Edit screen to upload that specific file and see its status (not uploaded / uploaded / failed) and cloud URL.
Rotate ad slides in a slot next to the player.
Manage under Video Post → Ads. Create video, image, or text ads:
FieldNotesAd TypeVideo, Image, or TextAd MediaImage: 1280×720, 16:9, JPG/PNG/WebP, ~500KB. Set the rotation interval (5–120 seconds, default 15) under the same screen's Rotation Settings. Each ad tracks impressions, views, clicks, and CTR, shown per-ad and as a site-wide summary.
One click, from title to finished thumbnail.
Configure your API keys under Settings → AI Thumbnail Generation:
gpt-4o-mini) — writes the image prompt from the video's title, meta description, and content/transcriptOn the Add/Edit screen, click Generate with AI next to the thumbnail picker. The result is added to your Media Library and set as the video's poster automatically; the generated prompt is shown underneath for reference.
Once active, every PRO feature (Cloud Storage, Ads, AI Thumbnails, premium themes) unlocks immediately — fields that were visible-but-disabled become usable, and "PRO" badges disappear throughout the plugin. Your site checks in with the license server daily to confirm the key is still valid.
The same License screen also has a one-time, optional prompt to share your site's admin email (separate from license activation) — this is never sent unless you explicitly opt in, and the choice can be changed any time from that screen.

No — WPX Video Post adds its own content type alongside your existing posts and pages. Nothing else on your site is affected.
Videos already offloaded to the cloud keep playing normally. New uploads, new ad creation, and AI thumbnail generation require an active license; existing settings are preserved and resume working once reactivated.
Yes — Cloud Storage is opt-in per video via the "Serve this video from Cloud Storage" toggle, so you can mix self-hosted and cloud-hosted videos freely.
No — it's a display override, not a deletion. Turning the setting back off restores your previous homepage behavior.
